Although several attempts were made during the early 1970s to establish an Omega presence in Nevada, it was not until a group of determined Brothers, Bernard Rivers, Roosevelt Williams, Pelton Stewart, Jeff Stewart, and Calvin Atkinson, resolved to pursue the vision earnestly that the dream began to take shape. Soon after, Brothers Ronald Reedom, Alfred Gilchrist, Gary Gordon, Percy McCarty, and Nick Nicholson joined their efforts, lending enthusiastic support and commitment.

The Charting of Kappa Xi
The Kappa Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc. was organized in November 1975 in Las Vegas, Nevada. From its inception, the chapter has consistently upheld the high standards and noble ideals established by our beloved Founders.

The Birth of Kappa Xi
Throughout the spring and fall of 1975, the brothers held periodic organizational meetings at the A.D. Guy Center and in the homes of various members. This kind of fraternal dedication led to the chartering of the Kappa Xi Chapter in February 1976. The memorable ceremony took place during the 12th District Council Meeting, presided over by the 12th District Representative. Dr. L. Benjamin Livingston (Omega Chapter), in February 1976.

The Charting of Kappa Xi
Several weeks later, after the Chartering of Kappa Xi in February 1976, the brothers engaged the services of Attorney-at-Law Robert Archie. With this, the Kappa Xi Chapter of Omega Psi Phi finalized the chapter’s legal incorporation under the statutes of the State of Nevada. With this, Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Incorporated became a formally recognized and enduring presence within the Silver State.
Since that time, more than one hundred Brothers have entered the folds of Omega through the Kappa Xi Chapter. The Brothers of Kappa Xi remain steadfast in their commitment to uphold and advance the cardinal principles of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance, and Uplift, living them daily in their homes, workplaces, and communities.
Through strong leadership at the national and district levels, and the unwavering devotion of its members, Kappa Xi Chapter continues to stand as a beacon of excellence, service, and brotherhood—poised to grow and prosper for generations to come.
